Join us for either of our exciting post-conference workshops. Tickets for these workshops can be purchased in our Registration Package. Space is limited to 40 people.

The workshops are being held on Wednesday October 4th, 2017 from 1 - 4pm

Workshop 1 Fundamentals of Enforcement

Price: $80 (only 40 spots available!)

Workshop Objective

After completing this workshop, participants will have a clear understanding of:

  • Reasonable Grounds, The Caution and Taking a Basic Statement
  • Understand what "reasonable grounds" really means and the implications of asking questions to a violator
  • How to take an admissible statement and engage in a live action scenario

Mark Riemenschneider


Experience is a great teacher. Mark's career has spanned the entire spectrum of law enforcement functions for over 30 years. He is currently the president of Due Process Prosecution and Training; popular with students who like to be engaged, and receives excellent reviews. He has been a per diem provincial prosecutor for over 20 years and has successfully handled thousands of cases. He was a full time Natural Resource and Environmental Law professor for 17 years (Fleming College). Mark started his career as a Field Conservation Officer for 11 years (MNRF).

Workshop 2 The Public Health Professional’s Wellness Workshop

Finding Balance through Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Stress Management

Price: $60 (only 40 spots available!)

Workshop Objective

Self-care is an important component of public health, but one that may often be overlooked. The objective of this workshop is to encourage participants to connect to their current state of wellness and find the courage to make positive changes towards greater work-life balance.

In this workshop, participants will begin with a self-reflection exercise, followed by interactive presentations from 3 expert panelists in the areas of fitness, nutrition, and stress management. Each presentation will inform participants of practical strategies that health professionals can use in their daily work and home lives to bring greater balance and improve their overall wellness. Participants will have an opportunity to get up and move their bodies, sample nutritious snacks, and engage in stress reduction techniques such as yoga.

Note: Due to the active nature of this workshop, participants are encouraged to dress comfortably (e.g. running shoes). Subject to cancellation by September 1st based on a minimum enrollment number.

Salimah Kassim-Lakha

Stress Management/Yoga/Meditation, Yoga Vision


Yoga Therapist and entrepreneur, Salimah has been teaching Yoga and Meditation for over 10 years. She is the director of YogaVision Centre, Festival Producer with Yogapalooza, and one of the CBC’s Yoga Experts. For Salimah Yoga has been a game changer, a conversation starter and a place to call home. Expect the unexpected in her classes and workshops.

Ben Sylvester, PhD

Fitness Expert


An award-winning researcher in health and exercise psychology, Ben is a post-doctoral fellow in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto. He is an expert in how to foster motivation and well-being in physical activity contexts, and physical activity behaviour change. Ben is also a CrossFit-Level 1 Trainer and is running the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 22nd.

Joy McCarthy

Nutrition Expert, Joyous Health


Joy McCarthy is the Founder of Joyous Health, a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and two-time best-selling author. Joy has been featured in hundreds of publications both online and in print; and is a regular health expert on TV. Through her innate drive to inspire others, Joy has created numerous online programs and eBooks under JOYOUS U and is a faculty member at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition.
